Winter Wonderland

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - just like the song says. And who doesn't love this time of the year and everything related with it? The lights, the colours, the smell, the candies, the decorations...

To be honest, Christmas is always my favourite time of the year. People are always much more cheery, everything looks prettier and wintery and fairy lights are scattered everywhere (don't ask me why but I'm just a big fan of fairy lights). I just thought I’d share with you some minimalist Christmas decorations so we can all start feeling the "Christmas Vibes" already.

The Little Black Dress Guide

A black dress is the forever classic wardrobe staple. The goal is to find the perfect one, so you will always have a "safe choice" for when you're not "feeling it" when it comes to pick up a party outfit - furthermore, the party season is arriving.

Cropped
This just became a classic in every wardrobe. This is the sexiest version of the LBD, and if you are felling really confident or just want to be sure that you will "kill" in that party, well, this dress will be your best friend. With bigger or smaller cuts, it's totally up to you the way you prefer yours but the one thing you can be sure: you'll totally nail on it.

Basic
Minimalist but super trendy and perfect for every occasion, that's how I see this kind of dresses. You can find them literally in every store and (usually) they are very affordable. You have plenty of models to choose from and, the best of all, they are super versatile!

Pearls&Sequins
A little more glamorous, this kind of black dresses are perfect for a little bit fancier events. No questions asked, this is perfect for a cocktail party! Many brands are selling more and more models like this and I just love the trend.

British Fashion Awards 2015

The London's biggest style event of the year took place at the London Coliseum, last Monday, 23rd November. The British Fashion Awards (fashion's equivalent of the Oscars) - which rewards the fashionable personalities of 2015 - was attended by the most famous and stylish people from all over the world and, of course, the red carpet was the perfect showcase for all the personalities to show off their best (or worst) pick ups for this glamorous night.

One color that no matter what it is always a safe choice when we're talking about this kind of events is our beloved black. And of course, many personalities opted for this color and, in my personal opinion, they nailed it with their choice. Look at this head-to-toe red carpet outfits:

Rita Ora - Chanel | Olga Kurylenko - Dolce&Gabbana | Kate Beckinsale - Erdem | Liv Tyler - Stella Mc Cartney

The transparencies also became a must-have in the red carpets all over the world, and at the BFA many personalities went for this kind of cloth. The one thing about transparencies is that you either nail on it or completely fail wearing it. Let's take a look on some of this year's choices:

Cheryl Versini - Topshop | Naomi Campbell - Burberry | Tanya Burr - Barbara Casasola | Georgia May Jegger - Gucci

Sequins and metallized dresses appears to be a common choice among personalities to this kind of events and this year was not an exception. With all kinds of different necklines, this more exuberant option was really appreciated during this year's BFA.

Rosie Huntington-Whieteley - Burberry | Karlie Kloss - Chanel | Poppy Delevingne - Emilia Wickstead | Chloe Green

This year's winner of the coveted "Model of the year" prize, Jourdan Dunn, went for an amazing black&white dress (my favorite of the night, I need to say) just like Mollie King. Definitely an amazing combination of colors. Last but not least, white dresses were also present during the event, this white dresses were minimalist but never unnoticed.

Jourdan Dunn - Thierry Mugler | Mollie King - PPQ | Pixie Lott - Issa | Arizona Muse - Ralph&Russo

What do you think about this year's British Fashion Awards red carpet? Any favorite? Who do you think that wore the best dress? I hope you had enjoyed this BFA review.

Welcome

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

I’ve been planning to write my own blog for quite some time now, but I must confess that I was procrastinating about starting! So back to basics – my name is Madalena, 19 years old and live in Lisbon, Portugal. Currently I'm studying BGS (Bachelor in General Studies). The main question is, I guess, "Why are you writing in English if you're Portuguese?". Well, there's no big science about it. Firstly, I can improve my English skills by practicing them while I'm sharing with you my thoughts and secondly, English is accessible to so many more people than Portuguese and I'm already dreaming big.

I'm an enthusiast of all things "Beauty, Fashion, Food and Lifestyle" related as you will see in the future and I'm pretty sure you already know about thousands of Internet stars and I'm pretty new at this but I think that's the most challenging thing about starting a blog - I just need to convince you that I deserve your most precious asset, your time. And, at this moment, I can only promise you that I'll give my best.

So, I’m committing myself to this blog because I don’t want it just to be "another blog". I want to be creative, post helpful and meaningful things both to you and me! So please, I’m counting on you to challenge me during this journey. And, since the beginning, if you have something in mind, something that you want me to do, don’t be shy, just tell me and I’ll be pleased with your suggestions/ideas.

I'm really excited about getting this going finally...
Thank you so much for the opportunity and I really hope you'll enjoy this journey!
